A BURNLEY engineering business is set for expansion after clinching a multi-million pound contract which will create 50 new jobs.

The deal between BCW Engineering and a major automotive firm is also set to see around £1million invested in machinery by the company and a new site acquired in the town.

BCW already have three sites around the town and employ 150 people, but the deal, worth up to £4million, will see even more expansion.

Bosses at the company, which produces components for Aston Martin, Jaguar Land Rover and Peugeot as well as products for the aerospace industry, hailed the news as a big boost.

Trevor Cassie, operations director, said: “It is a massive boost and fantastic news. We signed a contract to make turbo chargers last year and we’ve looked at expanding that side of things.

“This deal will we mean we can triple production, and as a result we will probably be looking at a new site of around 25,000 sq ft in Burnley, as well as getting new machinery and creating new, sustainable jobs.

“The company has six divisions of operation but this is the biggest area of growth, we are really on the up at the moment.”

The increase in business is being put down to car companies looking to cut emissions and using turbo chargers alongside smaller engines.

With the demand for turbo chargers it is hoped that BCW could double its turnover from £10m to around £25million in the next five years.
