TWO Blackburn-based house music DJs are making a name for themselves on the other side of the Atlantic.

Dave Taylor and Tony Cannon, collectively known as Two4House, have been signed up by one of the biggest dance labels in America, Open House Recordings, for their new EP Sounds from the North.

The label is run by house music legend Marshall Jefferson.

Dave said: “This is a great honour and achievement to be one of the label’s artists.

"The people that we now work alongside are our mentors who we have looked up to for many years, so to put out an EP on this label is a dream for both of us.”

Dave and Tony’s musical journey began back in the mid 1980s when regular weekend visits to Manchester brought in the newest shrink-wrapped sounds from Chicago and beyond.

“I can recall the small listening booths in Eastern Bloc Records and the excitement of hearing the new electronic house sounds coming from Chicago.

"I was hooked," said Dave.

Both Dave and Tony have played at various events at home and abroad, and in the late 1980s and early ’90s with friend and promoter Ronnie Brown promoted various acts in Blackburn such as Marshall Jefferson, A Guy Called Gerald and 808 State.

“It was only a matter of time before we moved into the production side of things,” said Tony.

"We have had over 23 years of playing and listening to House so we both felt that it was a natural progression to start our own production work.”

Dave works under the name of SoulDeep Inc and Tony works as Tony Cannon productions.

“We both have had several releases on various labels as solo artists and appear on world-wide web radio shows,” said Dave.

Both Dave and Tony are now working on a number of projects collectively and as solo artists and are currently working on a follow-up EP.

Sounds from the North is out now on promo via www.traxsource.com and on general release from Monday.
