DARWEN town centre looked like a scene from Wacky Races yesterday for the second annual Pedal Car Grand Prix.
Thirteen teams raced the town's streets at the same time as Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Some of the elaborate creations included a St John ambulance and a bee and ladybird-shaped cars.
First over the line was car 12, supported by North West Children Support.
Second place was K9 Spherical Engineering with another car from North West Children Support in third.
Organiser Phil Jones, of Darwen Town Council, said: "It was absolutely great fun, although there are serious competitors taking part now.
"Not many people can afford to go to watch the British Grand Prix, so this the perfect sport to watch instead."
