THE head of a vigilante anti-speed camera group has refused to accept police claims the device was destroyed over the weekend in an accident.
Police have said that the driver destroyed the camera after losing control of his vehicle and reported the accident to them after it had happened.
Motorists Against Detection (MAD), led by Captain Gatso, stands by the claim that one of its members had vandalised the device, in Burnley Road, Colne, over the weekend.
In response to police claims, Captain Gatso said: "I have e-mails and texts from members saying it was them. You know anything is possible."
