A 13-year-old boy drowned while swimming at a quarry in Chorley yesterday.
Dylan Ramsay was found at the Whittle Hill Quarry in Hill Top Lane, Whittle-le-Woods, in the afternoon.
The police are treating the incident as an accidental death.
The emergency services were called at around 3.10pm. A police spokesman: “The boy got into difficulty in the water.
"Sadly the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.”
Dylan's parents have been informed and a police investigation is underway.
