A KNIFEMAN who rang police and ended up being Tasered by the Armed Response Unit is behind bars for 56 days.
Burnley magistrates heard Tyler John French, 26, who had been drinking, called officers from a phone box in the early hours after he fell out with his girlfriend.
He threatened to harm himself and when police arrived at Marsden Hall Road North, Nelson, he was armed with two carving knives – one ten-inches long and the other six-inches long.
French held one knife to his throat and pointed the other towards the officers.
He was told to drop the knives, didn’t and was Tasered.
French, of Thursby Place, Nelson, admitted using words, or behaviour, with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence, and two charges of possessing an offensive weapon in Gibfield Road, Nelson, on June 2.
Mark Williams, for French, said he didn’t think he would comply with a community order, so just wanted to get a jail term started.
