A GANG of bogus charity collectors who tied up a woman during a house raid had guns, it has emerged.
Police today revealed that one of the three men who struck at Goodshaw Avenue, Pleckgate, on Friday morning brandished a stun-gun and then a hand-gun as he threatened the lone 39-year-old woman.
Detectives have released further details about the incident after speaking at length with the victim, who was left ‘hysterical’ by the crime.
Detective Inspector Mark Winstanley said the first man who approached the detached house in the quiet residential area claimed to be collecting money for the local mosque before bundling the married mum-of-three inside.
He was joined by two men who bound and gagged the woman before leaving with thousands of pounds in cash and gold jewellery.
The woman managed to stumble into the street at 11am and alert neighbours with her screaming.
She has now given police more detailed descriptions of the raiders.
The three men are described as Asian, in their 40s and spoke in Punjabi.
The first was 6ft with short, dark hair and a neat=trimmed beard, well-groomed, and wearing a light-coloured traditional Asian dress, white Muslim cap, dark blazer jacket and glasses.
The second man was 5ft8in, with short black greasy hair, rough looking with dark skin with bags under his eyes and a distinctive large nose.
Wearing black trousers and a black jacket.
The third man was similar size, again described as rough-looking with black hair and bushy eyebrows.
He was wearing dark-coloured clothing including a black scarf around his neck and lower face and had black square-framed glasses on.
Police believe they had a getaway car nearby because they approached and left the house on foot.
