Holli was found lying on the floor of her bedrooom wrapped in her duvet, possibly after falling out of bed, on Monday morning.

Paramedics were called but she was confirmed dead at 8.04am.

Det Insp Paul Withers said: "The child was found in her bedroom by her mother and she wasn't breathing. Paramedics arrived but unfortunately the girl had died.

"The case is not suspicious and there is no suspicion on the family. It is just a very tragic incident. We don't know what has caused the death at this stage. There is an inquest in to the death and police enquiries are still ongoing."

A post mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday afternoon but no cause of death was discovered.

An inquest into the death has been adjourned until November 20 pending further tests.

Neighbours of the couple on Peronne Crescent spoke of the their shock over the death.

Mary McManus, 57, said: "It's terrible. It's an awful thing to lose a baby. It's come as a real shock.

"I got up at 7.15am on Monday and there was a police car in front of my house and then there was another police car at the other side.

"I went to go out to town at 9.30am and came back and they were still here at 12.30pm.

"My neighbour came round and as we were talking a woman and man were taken away in a police car and we haven't heard anything since.

"The house is privately rented so you never get to know them but there was a big van outside the house on Saturday and it looked like these new people were moving in. "
