A COUPLE from East Lancashire are celebrating after scooping £3.5million on the lottery.

The pair, who won half of Saturday’s £7million Lotto jackpot, have not been named yet.

But the couple, who Camelot said are from the Blackburn area, are to be introduced to the media tomorrow.

Camelot said the prize was won in the main Lotto draw, which was a rollover.

The winning numbers were three, eight, 10, 35, 38 and 39.

A press conference has been called and will take place at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors tomorrow morning.

The area has a history of lottery wins with the most recent being Burnley FC fan Anthony Young.

The 33-year-old from Padiham, a machine operator, won more than £2m on the lottery in April.

He immediately promised to buy his mother a bungalow and go on a round-the-world trip.

Another big recent lottery win saw 13 colleagues scoop £3.9million on the lottery in 2009.

Bus driver Kevin Halstead said he would not quitting his job in Chorley despite winning £2.3million in March last year.

But the region’s biggest ever winner was Mukhtar Mohidin, from Blackburn, who won £17.9 million in 1994.

The millionaire has never spoken publicly about his big win.
