A PEDESTRIAN has been seriously injured in a collision with a car driven by a Colne woman in a North Yorkshire village, police said.
Officers were alerted after reports that a 50-year-old local man had been hit by a black Peugeot 406 on Skipton Road, Crosshills.
The driver of the Peugeot failed to stop at the scene of the collision but a 41-year-old woman from Colne was arrested around two hours later following police inquiries, according to Skipton Road Police.
She is being held in custody as an investigation is carried out into the incident continue.
The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Airedale General Hospital for treatment to a serious head injury.
He remains in hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Officers are urging witnesses to the collision to come forward with information.
Traffic Sergeant Pete Stringer, of Skipton Road Policing Group, said: "This was obviously a serious incident and I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision as soon as possible.
"I am also appealing for anyone who saw the black Peugeot either before or after the collision to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information."
