PRIMARY school pupils will brighten up Nelson’s new town centre by adding plants and herbs to the area.
The youngsters, who go to Whitefield Infant School will create the garden in front of Admiral’s Market.
Debbie Taylor, from Pendle Council, who had the idea said: “I was inspired by the nationally acclaimed Incredible Edible in Todmorden.
“To make it less costly to look after, I’ve included lots of hardy herbs which come again every year, like chives, camomile, lavender, catmint and curry plants.
“But I’m not encouraging people to eat them.
“The planters contain a mix of plants and a lot of them are not edible.
“So just enjoy the look and the smell, which will be lovely, especially after one of our Lancashire showers.”
The work is part of the wider £2.1million scheme to regenerate Nelson town centre.
