A HOTEL, 200 homes and shops could be created in new plans for a major overhaul of a business park to also create 2,000 new jobs.
London-based Goldtique Ventures wants to demolish the dated buildings on the Junction 7 business park in Clayton-le-Moors, replacing them with high-tech units.
Bosses behind the ‘multi-million pound’ scheme say it will bring well-paid jobs to Hyndburn.
And the plans have been cautiously backed by council chiefs, who have been in talks with Goldtique.
The firm, which has owned the business park for three years, says it plans to raze the 1930s units to the ground and build new ones ideal for technology firms.
Businesses on the site will be offered new accommodation or helped with a search elsewhere in the area.
The developer said it plans 200 houses, including affordable properties aimed at people struggling to get on the house ladder, and a care home and sheltered accommodation.
Chief executive Grahame Roth said: “Our plans for Junction 7 business park represent a substantial economic investment into Clayton-le-Moors and will completely transform the appearance of the site, bringing it back into more beneficial uses.
“The creation of approximately 2,000 jobs, new office and business accommodation, community facilities, new homes and green open spaces will be of real benefit to the local community.”
Council leader Miles Parkinson said: “If you go along the M65 there are plenty of modern business parks but the Junction 7 one has never been properly redeveloped.
“What Goldtique wants to do is very positive.
“It is just a matter of getting the balance right between business accommodation and houses, because we don’t want to lose employment.”
Goldtique is holding consultation events at Clayton Park conference centre on Friday, July 1, and at Accrington market on Saturday, July 2.
