COLCHESTER bring back good memories for me because I always scored against them.

During my career, there were certain clubs I seemed to enjoy playing against.

Oldham were my favourite - their fans must have hated me because I put about 20 goals past them over the years, for various sides.

Colchester were another. I scored seven goals in three games against them, which is not a bad ratio. They were definitely a good club for me.

The first time I played them, in the 1998/99 season, we murdered them 4-0 on a Friday night at their place, although we were going through a lean spell before that.

It was a really weird time. The Saturday before, we played Manchester City and Norwegian defender Rune Vindheim made his debut for us.

We only met Vindheim on the day in the dressing room.

He hadn't trained with us beforehand and couldn't speak a word of English, none whatsoever. It was unbelievable.

Anyway, we drew 2-2 against a good Man City side and then he scored at Colchester.

I scored twice and then went for a header for my hat-trick.

The goalkeeper parried it and, fair play to Vindheim, he followed up to score from 30 yards.

I remember him running up to me to celebrate. I don't think he could believe he had scored in English football!

Later in the season, I scored twice again when Lomana LuaLua got sent off for kicking one of our players.

The following season, I got a hat-trick against Colchester at Turf Moor, so I've obviously got nice memories.

We should be taking three points against them on Saturday. There's no reason why not.

It is two tough home games with Barnsley also coming over from Yorkshire next Tuesday.

But, really, I would expect us to turn both of them over, providing we play well.

There's a good rivalry between Burnley and Barnsley, another of my former clubs.

It feels like a local derby and usually produces a good atmosphere.

Wayne Thomas returns from a one-game suspension and he will slot straight back into the centre of defence.

He's started off well this season. When Thomas is solid, he's very solid, but he's had moments where his concentration slips.
