CHARITY officials have paid tribute to their supporters after a fledgling fundraising evening in Burnley.
More than £650 was raised at Burnley Miners, in Plumbe Street, for Salute, the new organisation headed by Keith Shepherd, which offers support to ex-servicemen in East Lancashire Around 120 people attended the function, where the entertainment was provided by Dermot Doyle and Diva Dynamics.
Burnley Football Club donated a pair of Brian Jensen’s gloves for the raffle, and Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle supplied a bottle of House of Commons whisky.
The charity has set up a website, www.saluteyou24.co.uk which gives information about donations, and forthcoming activities.
