A FORMER Blackburn College student is celebrating after his masterpiece was chosen to be displayed at the Scottish Royal Academy art show.
Michael Youds, 29, studied Art & Design NVQ and BTEC at the college, followed by a BA in Fine Art at the University Centre.
The former St Augustine’s pupil moved to Edinburgh four years ago and entered himself into the annual Visual Arts competition.
He painted an oil portrait of the Director General of Scottish museums.
And that then went on display at the Royal Academy temporary exhibition in Edinburgh.
Michael, who used to live in Great Harwood, said: “I really enjoyed my time at Blackburn College.
“The tutors taught me everything I know.
“I couldn’t believe people recognized the painting of the director. It has been the highlight of my career to date.
“I really can’t thank Blackburn enough for believing in my talent and providing me with the necessary skills to go on to great things.”
Michael is currently a gallery attendant in Edinburgh.
