AN 11-year-old girl from Wilpshire was crowned as this year’s Rose Queen.

Esme Pearse was picked out of the hat to take the year long role on Saturday.

The Rose Queen procession took place from The Homestead, Whalley Road, Wilpshire, from 11.45am and ended at St Peter’s Church, Salesbury, at 12.30pm.

Esme was crowned this year’s Rose Queen at the church by Stephanie Worden from Salesbury CofE Primary School.

Rose Queen organiser Eileen Bagot said: “She looked very, very pretty and beautiful.

"The procession went very well and we were lucky with the weather. "Esme enjoyed it and was very happy.”
