A FAMILY have paid tribute to a Rossendale man who was murdered and dumped in a wheelie bin.
Police discovered the body of Shaun Corey inside the bin in a house in Lewisham, South London, last Wednesday.
They believe his body was at the house in Stantead Road, Forest Hill, for some time.
Mr Corey’s family, who still live in Bacup, Whitworth and Rochdale, have now paid tribute to the ‘hardworking’ grandfather.
A statement issued by the family said: “Shaun will be remembered as a hardworking, loving son, brother, dad, grandad and friend.
“He was so easy-going, thoughtful and gentle.
“He is sadly missed."
Mr Corey’s extended family were informed by family liaison officers from Lancashire Police on Friday.
Officers are now working with their counterparts from London Metropolitan Police’s homicide and serious crime command.
Murder detectives in London have also set up an incident room.
A postmortem examination on Friday at Greenwich Mortuary has yet to determine the cause of death Karen Otmani, 40, of Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, appeared at Greenwich Magistrates' Court last Friday charged with Mr Corey’s murder.
She is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey today.
A 58-year-old man has also been bailed until August and another man, aged 46, has been released without charge.
