A BURNLEY man has been left with a head injury after being attacked while walking through parkland in the early hours.
The 26-year-old was struck from behind while walking through Bank Hall Park, off Queen Victoria Road, between 1am and 4am on Friday.
He is thought to have spoken to two men, who had a large dog, around 12.30, then a man and woman, who may be witnesses to the violence.
Det Con Melissa Chadwick, of Burnley CID, said: “This appears to be an unprovoked, nasty assault that has left the victim with a head injury and needing hospital treatment.”
“He has been left shaken following the attack and the people responsible need to be caught.”
Witnesses are asked to call Burnley CID on 01282 472242 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
