TOILET rolls and signs explaining the symptoms of bowel cancer are being put on display in loos at community buildings and workplaces across East Lancashire.
A ‘Don’t rush to flush’ campaign aims to alert people to the dangers of the disease and remind them how important it is to check for signs.
NHS East Lancashire wants residents to look for specks of blood in stools, irregular bowel movements, or bleeding from the bottom.
Jeanette Gibson, from the trust’s cancer team said: “For many of us, the prospect of checking for blood after we’ve been to the toilet fills us with dread.
“We’re even worse at talking about the issue, which means that if we do spot any strange symptoms, we’re more likely to ignore them.”
