HUNDREDS of schoolchildren from across East Lancashire sang their hearts out at a musical spectacular.
The event, organised by Blackburn with Darwen Music and Arts Service, saw more than 500 young people taking part in the ‘Big Sing’ over two days at King George’s Hall, Blackburn.
Mini Sing Day 2009 took place on Tuesday with a workshop for 250 infant schoolchildren and an evening concert in front of the Mayor of Blackburn, Karimeh Foster.
And yesterday primary and secondary children performed with a live band performing a variety of songs including, I Wanna Be Like You from the Jungle Book and Food Glorious Food from Oliver.
Around 30 schools took part, including Roe Lee Park Junior School and Darwen Vale High School.
Kate Parkinson, lead vocal tutor for Blackburn Music Services, said: “The event has been incredibly successful and we are thinking about making it even bigger next year.
“Every child should get the opportunity to play an instrument or develop their voice.”
