A MUM has been charged with the attempted murder of her three children by deliberately crashing her car into a wall.
Kelly Marie Brogan, 31, of Railton Avenue, Mill Hill, Blackburn, is also charged with driving while unfit through drink.
Brogan is alleged to have deliberately driven her Ford Galaxy at a wall at the Tockholes-end of Heys Lane, Blackburn, with the three children in it, at 9pm on January 4.
She is accused of trying to kill the children under 10 in the crash, Blackburn Magistrates’ Court heard.
The people carrier flipped onto its side in the incident, and the alarm was raised after a passing motorist was flagged down by one of the children.
Brogan and her other two children had to be cut out of the car by firefigters using specialist equipment.
The mother was left with spinal injuries and was treated at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, though police said the children were unharmed.
Police closed the road for 30 minutes while recovery of the vehicle took place.
Brogan was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court where she will attend a preliminary hearing today.
Blackburn with Darwen Council said it could not comment on the case, but confirmed that the children were not subject to care proceedings.
