HUNDREDS of women will be getting out their walking shoes this weekend for an eight-mile trek in the early hours for the East Lancashire Hospice.
The Silver Starlight Walk, from 10pm on Saturday, is expected to raise more than £80,000 towards the Park Lee Road venue’s £2.8million running costs.
One of those taking part is Caroline Harris, 34, from Apple Close, Blackburn, in memory of her father.
Caroline's dad, Joe Smith, died of cancer in November at the age of 57 and was in-and-out of the hospice before his death.
She said: “The hospice was really good with him and with us, and I wanted to give something back.
"The walk finishes on Father's Day though, and as I am doing this for my dad I think that's really nice.”
She is hoping to raise £1,000.
Also walking in memory of Joe will be Caroline's sister, Josephine Smith, her two sisters-in-law, Caroline Kerr and Sarah Hall, her neighbour, Karen Patten, and her niece, Eleanor Fox.
It’s not too late to register to take part in the Starlight Walk. Entry is £10.
Registrations can be booked from 7.30pm at the Soccerdome in Haslingden Road Guide. Alternatively, call 01254 733400.
