THE leader of the English Defence League has been charged with assault following the group’s demonstration in Blackburn earlier this year.
Stephen Lennon, also known as Tommy Robinson, of Layham Drive, Luton, has been bailed to apper before Blackburn magistrates on Thursday, June 24.
Hundreds of supporters of the right-wing protest group gathered in Blackburn on April 2.
Meanwhile, hundreds of others took part in counter-demonstrations elsewhere in the town centre.
One of the heaviest police presences in Lancashire's history was assembled to control the demos.
