EMERGENCY service chiefs will be put on the spot over their response to huge moorland fires earlier this year.
Officers from Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue service will answer questions from members of the public at a meeting tomorrow.
They will discuss how they dealt with fires that raged for days on moorland near Darwen, Belmont and Chorley last month.
Jake Berry, Darwen and Rossendale MP, has urged action to help prevent further incidents.
PC Mel Jeffrey, from the police’s air support unit, said: “This meeting will give members of the public the opportunity to find out about our response to the moorland fires.
There is also the chance to find out more about the work that we do day-in-day-out to keep the residents of Lancashire safe.”
Lancashire’s fire service said more than 1,000 firefighters in total dealt with a series of blazes, including others in Bacup and Ormskirk.
The meeting will be held at the Black Horse Hotel in Gregson Lane, Hoghton, from 10am tomorrow.
The emergency services have launched a review into how the fires were handled to see if any lessons can be learned.
