PLANS have been unveiled for a new mosque and Islamic teaching school at a former Nelson employment centre.
Supporters of the Madrassa Talim-ul-Quran, in Leeds Road, have been on the outlook for new premises for some time.
And the former Pendle Re-Employment Centre, in Bankhouse Road, which has latterly been used as a youth club, has been identified as suitable.
The congregation currently meets in converted shop premises, at the junction of Hildrop Road.
The new centre would have 12 classrooms over two floors, alongside two main halls, meeting rooms and office space.
Mosque applicant Sana Ullah said in a statement: “The local and surrounding community has been consulted and are happy with the project.”
