A THREE-year-old girl will take part in the Race For Life in Blackburn tonight in memory of the grandad she never met.
Charlotte Newton will tackle the five-kilometre route in Witton Park with her mum Michelle, sister Ellé, 11, and aunt Helen.
The family is supporting the Cancer Research event in memory of the girls’ grandfather Geoff Newton, who died from the disease eight years ago.
But their efforts will also be in celebration of their grandma, Patricia Sutton, 63, who defeated breast cancer.
Michelle, 43, from Brockhall Village, said: “I think there will be a bit of running, a bit of walking, a bit of crying and probably a bit of carrying!
“Charli really loves running anyway, and Ellé and I have done it every year since she was four.
"I’m not fit at all, it’s the only exercise I get!
“My sister and I are going to put down our mum’s name as our inspiration, and the girls will put Geoffrey.”
Charlotte has raised nearly £350. Sponsor her at www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/charlinewton.
