ARSONISTS are believed to have targeted a charity recycling box in Rawtenstall.
Firefighters were called, at around 7.40pm on Sunday, to a metal container, near the corner of Prospect Road and Burnley Road, which was well alight.
The fire, close to Campbell’s general store, was brought under control within 15 minutes, and is thought to have been started deliberately.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that clothing inside the box was destroyed.
The recycling container belongs to College for International Co-operation and Development, which funds development work in South Africa.
