ACCRINGTON’S very own royalty has been announced as preparations get underway for this year’s carnival.
Eight-year-old Jasmine-Icho Baron was chosen as this year’s Accrington Carnival Princess, at an event in Accrington Market Hall on Saturday.
Twenty-one hopefuls entered the competition, and the runners-up were Dolcie Leigh Powers, six, and Milly Cleary, 11.
Judges included the newly-crowned carnival queen Megan Lucie Adams; Jake Woods, from J2A hair and beauty salon, Baxenden; Wendy Alltree, from Rossettes Direct, Oswaldtwistle; and councillor Marlene Howarth. The girls will be officially crowned at Accrington Carnival on June 18.
