A NEW fire safety company has vowed to return some of its profits to the community.
Friendly Fire and Safety, of Barn Meadow Lane, Great Harwood, said a portion of its earnings will be put into a trust fund to benefit good causes.
The firm, founded by Haslingden GP Abdul Mannan and Clayton-le-Moors-based Steve Scott, aims to educate businesses on fire safety.
For example, the pair say many are unaware that if their company does not have the right extinguishers, insurance could be invalidated.
Mr Mannan said: “I see this as the way forward for charitable organisations.
“If we can have a successful commercial business, then we can put a percentage of the profits into a trust fund that all the community can benefit from.
"With the grant situation only set to get worse, I think charities need to look at new ways they can help themselves and this is one of them.”
The duo are set to offer free fire safety checks to charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Meanwhile, the profits will be part of a fund that will be doled out to the community.
