CELEBRITY Clarets fan Alastair Campbell was involved in a scuffle with pop singer Tom Parker from The Wanted during a charity football tournament in Burnley.
The on-field bust-up happened during the Soccer Six tournament, which attracted 6,600 fans to Turf Moor yesterday.
Former Downing Street spin doctor Mr Campbell reacted angrily to a challenge from the boyband member and the pair locked horns.
His son Rory, who was also playing in the Burnley team, then waded in and a two-minute fracas ensued.
An eyewitness said: “I didn’t see any punches thrown. It was just handbags really.”
Burnley won the match with The Wanted 1-0.
The clash came just moments after Mr Campbell described the tournament as ‘a bit of fun’.
He said: “I’ve never played at Turf Moor before. I would have rather turned out for the club, but there wasn’t much chance of that unfortunately.”
Brit-Award-winner Plan B, Oritsé Williams from boyband JLS, Mark Wright and James ‘Arg’ Argent from The Only Way Is Essex and Hollyoaks actors Nick Pickard and Ashley Taylor Dawson were among the celebrities who competed in the six-a-side charity tournament.
Others included Dancing on Ice star Sam Attwater, X-Factor finalist Wagner and DJ Brandon Block.
The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright scored a hat-trick for Plan B’s team in their first match against the Big Brother contingent.
“I love anything like this – football is my biggest passion,” he said.
Burnley’s celeb side, which Mr Campbell captained, played well on the day, reaching the quarter finals, where they were beaten 2-1 by a Hollyoaks team.
The winners of the tournament were Merlin.
