GOING for a picnic or walking the dog are the normal leisure activties in a park.
But now, people in Burnley can find inner peace and tranquillity with an outdoor Tai Chi class this weekend.
And the sessions, run by Lighthouse Tai Chi, are to be rolled out across Pendle and Rossendale.
Inspired by the ancient Chinese system of movement and meditation, the classes are open to all ages and abilities.
Helena Kean, a qualified instructor, said: “Rather than hard martial arts it is an internal development of strength where injury risk is limited.”
A taster session will be held in Thompson Park, Burnley, tomorrow and Sunday, and in Ightenhill Park from June 13 to 19, apart from Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am to 11am.
Further sessions will be held at Haslingden Sports Centre, Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne and Briercliffe Community Centre, Burnley.
