A SCHEME to help keep rogue traders away from their doors has been introduced in an area of Colne.
Residents in the Horsfield and Waterside districts have signed up to the No Cold Calling scheme being run by Lancashire County Council.
The scheme aims to keep bogus salespeople and distraction burglars away from the doors of elderly residents.
County Coun Albert Atkinson, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member responsible for trading standards, said: “Rogue traders prey on the elderly and vulnerable, often conning them out of vast sums of money for work that is substandard, unnecessary and overpriced.
“Residents should always say no to cold callers and never do business on the doorstep.”
The scheme has been established in partnership with the local residents, Lancashire County Council’s Trading Standards Service and the police.
