A DOG was rescued by firefighters after it fell 40ft near a reservoir yesterday.
The black Labrador, called Olly, ran away from its owner on land off Batridge Road, Belmont, yesterday at 11.40am.
It then fell and got stuck on a concrete basin.
Firefighters from Darwen were called in to rescue the animal and a 4x4 vehicle was used to get close to the water.
The dog was lifted out with the help of a United Utilities officer.
Olly suffered a broken leg and bruised ribs, and was taken to a vet practice in Bolton for treatment.
