AN EAST Lancashire comedienne is hoping for her big break when work starts on filming a pilot episode for a TV sitcom this weekend.

The sitcom, written by Briercliffe stand-up and writer Mel Moon, 31, is set in the town and could win a series on a national TV channel if all goes well.

It tells the story of a pair of daytime TV presenters who were famous throughout the country 10 years ago, but made some catastrophic decisions and lost their stardom and went into hiding.

Now 10 years on they have been tracked down to a bed and breakfast in Burnley.

And the sitcom tells their story as they explain what went wrong and try and win back the public’s love.

Mel said: “Filming starts in Burnley this weekend and we have a very decent cast list.

"The script has been written for a while but it has been a case of getting things in place for a pilot episode.

“We are now looking for extras to appear in the episode and for sponsors.

"They will get exposure on screen and online, and we are open to filming a scene outside their premises or shop.

“We need sponsors with a product aimed at mostly men aged between 20 and 45 as that is our target demographic.”

The cast includes Ewen Macintosh, (Big Keith from 'The Office), Philip Barantini (Ned Kelly, Band of Brothers) and James Redmond (Casualty, Hollyoaks).
