ROYAL Mail is urging more Burnley Lancashire businesses who use postage meters to take advantage of a £30million discount.
All staff need to do is reset meters to reflect price reductions following the introduction of the new pricing system on August 21.
The new structure reduces the price of first class stamps for meter users by a penny.
Lorna Clarkson, spokeswoman from Royal Mail, said: "Resetting meters is particularly important if business customers are to get a share in the £30million price reduction."
Smaller businesses which use manual franking machines are reminded to check meters have been reset, as the price reduction could be a huge benefit to them.
The reduction, on top of the 1p discount given to business mail as part of the tariff changes in April 2005, is in recognition that business post costs Royal Mail less to handle.
In addition Royal Mail are also increasing the weight limit for businesses from 60g to 100g, meaning this new pricing system provides businesses with a "double whammy" of benefits, so customers can send more for less.
