PEOPLE across Lancashire are being urged to give blood this month.
Blood stocks drop after Bank Holidays so bosses at the National Blood Service are appealing for people to help replenish their supplies.
Rachel Roberts, from the service, said: "We need everyone to make a special effort to give blood this month and help replenish our stocks.
"Patients need blood to save and improve their lives no matter what time of year and we need the support of our donors to make sure we meet the demand."
Statistics show that that every day in the UK 8,000 donations are needed with over 800 in the north west alone for treatments ranging from cancer to heart surgery.
If you are aged between 17 and 60, in good health and weigh over 50kg, you should be able to register as a donor.
Call the helpline on 0845 7 711711 to find out where to donate.
