A COUPLE struck by cupid’s arrow during a charity fundraiser plan to get married on the third anniversary of their chance meeting.
Stephen Willoughby from Padiham met Melanie Lord from Accrington on Pendle’s Pub Walk just 12 months ago.
The couple got chatting as they walked the nine-mile route and have been inseparable ever since.
Yhey plan to tie the knott on June 8, 2013, the closest date to the anniversary of the day they met.
And they will also be taking part in this year’s walk on June 18, which is expected to see more than 400 walkers stride out for Pendleside Hospice.
Stephen said: “You aren’t really expecting to ‘pull’ when you don your hiking boots, but Melanie and I hit it off from the start.
"Pendle Pub Walk holds wonderful memories for us, so I’m really looking forward to doing it again this year.”
Last year's event raised over £6,000 for The Prostate Cancer Charity and Derian House the children’s hospice.
Walk organiser, Simon Tattersall said: “People of all ages and all walks of life seem to mix and get on well.
“Clearly, last year some people were getting on very, very well indeed but we can’t promise romance for everybody sadly.”
