BURNLEY’S Focus DIY outlet is be transformed into a discount home store.
The Calverdale Road branch, set to close after Focus went into administration, has been acquired by B&M Bargains, the Merseyside-based low-cost retailer.
It plans to turn the unit into one of its home stores selling household goods.
The move is set to safeguard the jobs of Focus workers and has been hailed as ‘fantastic news’ by Burnley Council leader Charlie Briggs.
Cheshire-based Focus DIY, which was founded by former Crown Paints boss Bill Archer, collapsed last month.
All stores are down for closure, although B&M has acquired 11 outlets, including Burnley.
The Focus stores in Blackburn and Rawtenstall are still expected to close in the next few weeks.
B&M was unavailable for comment.
