A MAN has been charged with voyeurism after a woman was filmed on the toilet in a Blackburn pub.
Police said a man followed the woman and her friend into the female toilets in the Postal Order, Darwen Street, and went into the next cubicle.
He is then alleged to have started filming her with his mobile phone from underneath the cubicle.
Police said the woman and her friend managed to snatch the phone and the suspect fled.
The ‘shocked and annoyed’ woman, from Accrington, immediately alerted security, who contacted police.
Officers said the incident happened at 12.50am on a busy Saturday night into Sunday morning.
PC Dave Hall said: “CCTV shows a man watching the two ladies for a while in the pub.
“Seconds after they went to the toilet, a man followed them in.
“They were chatting and, although they noticed him, they just hoped he’d gone away again.
“It took a split second for it to register what he was doing when she saw the phone pointed straight at her.
“She did well to be so strong and confront him. Her overriding reaction was annoyance and she was affronted by the cheek of it.”
A member of staff added: “It’s disgusting. The toilets are upstairs out of the way so we check them every half an hour.
“We’ve got measures in place, but there was nothing more we could have done.”
Kevin Forrest, 48, of Eastwood Street, Blackburn, has been charged with voyeurism in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
