BRIDE Martha Standring took no time at all to get into the swing of married life.
She celebrated her marriage to Nathaniel O’Brien, 32, with a turn on the trapeze, while he fronted his own rock band.
But the couple’s Victorian carnival themed ceremony was definitely out of the ordinary.
Librarian Martha, 31 from Hurstwood, near Burnley, walked down the aisle at Christ the King RC Church in a period-style dress, designed by friend Lucy Margaret Howarth.
And while guests enjoyed a wedding picnic, at the Fielden Centre in Todmorden, her fellow performers the The Hooping Harlots danced the hula using fiery rings.
Her sister Hannah, 34, said: “It was a fantastic day. Lots of people dressed up and really got into the spirit of it.”
Former Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar student Martha’s parents, Graham and Patricia, and the groom’s mother and father, Val and Kevin, from near Rochdale, also looked proudly on.
The couple, who have two daughters, Molly, 12, and Phoebe, three, will honeymoon in Marrakesh.
A sense of adventure runs in the family, as Graham and Patricia completed the Budapest to Bamako challenge in a black cab last year.
