INSPECTORS have found an independent primary school is good with outstanding features.
Al-Asr Primary School, St Silas Road, Blackburn, was praised for the ‘good quality’ of education it provides to 110 pupils.
But inspectors raised concerns over the school’s playground for early years pupils, which was closed by the team because it was deemed to be ‘hazardous’.
They found that concrete steps had sharp edges on them and children could walk freely into a dangerous area on the site.
Inspectors however praised the headteacher for her ‘calm’ and ‘determined’ leadership.
Inspectors said: “Al-Asr Primary School provides a good quality of education so that pupils flourish in a secure, happy and supportive Islamic environment.
“Overall, the quality of teaching is good.
“It is never less than satisfactory and on occasion it is outstanding.
“Consequently, pupils enjoy their learning and make good progress. ”
