A NEW boss has been appointed to oversee more than 10,000 BAE Systems workers in Lancashire.
Chris Boardman is the new managing director of the firm’s military air and information business, replacing Kevin Taylor.
The role will see Mr Boardman take responsibility for BAE’s Samlesbury base, which employs 4,000, as well as the Warton site on the Fylde coast.
St Helens-born Mr Boardman has been with the company since 1979, when he joined the then-British Aerospace as an undergraduate.
Since then he has held various senior roles, including a directorship at SIKA, a joint venture between BAE and US giant Lockheed Martin.
He also previously worked on the Eurofighter Typhoon, a key project at Samlesbury, along with the US-led F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
Mr Taylor has been promoted to group strategy director.
