WORK to highlight dementia, particularly in Asian communities, has got under way in a new project.
An East Lancashire pilot project attracted 50 people to an initial event last week in Accrington.
Training materials including a DVD were issued to help organisations to raise awareness in their local communities and to assist in their work with local families.
Caroline Otieno, dementia project officer for Lancashire County Council and East Lancashire PCT, said: “Current estimates show that a relatively small number of people with dementia are from minority ethnic groups. However, this will increase substantially."
