IF there’s one thing guaranteed to put a smile on my face, it’s a good deal.
Naturally, I therefore do not like to feel as though I’ve paid over the odds.
After a quick look at the Pizza Hut menu online, we made our choices only to be told on the phone that the menu had changed and one of them was no longer available.
We went for a regular Hawaiian pan base and a regular Best Ever Supreme Italian base, plus a salad bowl.
We’d not checked the prices, and arrived to collect our lazy dinner to see plenty of deals promoted on the new menus and were optimistic it wouldn’t be too expensive.
The total for our pretty small offering was £21.15 – pizzas at £9.25 and £7.95.
Offers including the ‘Going Solo’ regular pizza and a classic side (upgradable to the ‘premium’ salad) for £7.95, and ‘buy one pizza, get one half price’ could both have been applied to our order, but no-one mentioned them when we called.
While I was busy making the most of the salad bar, my other half didn’t question the bill – maybe these deals would have then been included.
But I believe that if offers are advertised, staff should always promote them, even if a customer is seemingly unaware.
The pizzas themselves were OK. They’d have been better warmer by the time we got home.
The quality and quantity of the toppings was variable, and it was a good to get ham instead of the substitute meats that can be offered by some less reputable establishments.
