AN actor from Burnley will be among the celebrities taking part in next month’s Soccer Six tournament at Turf Moor.

Chris Parkinson, 18, is the first to admit his little sister Jess, who used to play for Burnley FC girls, is the football fanatic in the family.

The Ightenhill teenager is used to lighting up the screen, having appeared in TV movie Magnificent 7 opposite Helena Bonham Carter, as well as daytime soap Doctors, BBC Three’s Frankenstein’s Wedding and As the Bell Rings on the Disney Channel.

But he vowed to do his utmost to illuminate Turf Moor when he lines up alongside stars including Plan B, Shayne Ward and Danny Dyer at the six-a-side tournament.

Former St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary School pupil Chris said: “I’ve always been the actor and my sister has always been the footballer.

“She’s a bit jealous but she’s being really supportive and she’ll be there watching on the day.

“I’m really excited to be taking part in the Soccer Six because it’s for a good cause and there is a brilliant line-up.”

Chris left Burnley at the age of 10 to attend the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, where he remained until he was 16.

Now based back in his hometown, he said his mum’s house has become a refuge for young actors.

Melissa Suffield, who plays Lucy Beale in Eastenders, has also signed up to participate in the tournament and will be lodging at Chris’s house next month.

Chris, who made it down to the final 10 when auditioning for a place in boyband The Wanted, recently recorded a cameo appearance in forthcoming Sky 1 comedy drama Mount Pleasant, which stars Sally Lindsay and Bobby Ball.

After the Soccer Six tournament on Sunday June 5, he said he will be concentrating on securing more TV and film roles.
