A 51-YEAR-OLD man was robbed in the street after leav- ing a bookies with £200 in winnings.
Police said the man was attacked from behind as he walked along Harold Street, Burnley, near to the Jesun Chinese takeaway.
According to officers, the victim was punched on the back of the head and then in the face, causing him to fall to the floor.
The offenders then kicked the man in the ribs as he lay on the floor, before pulling off his jacket and stealing his mobile phone and cash.
The man suffered broken ribs, a black eye, cuts, and scrapes, and was treated at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
DC Sarah Beckley said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked robbery and I would appeal to anybody that witnessed the off-ence, or with any information, to contact police.
“We believe there were up to two offenders involved and prior to the incident the victim had been at the bookmakers and won over £200, so it is possible the offenders have seen him with this money and followed him.”
The robbery happened at around 9.20pm on Thursday, May 19.
