A CARAVAN being used as living quarters by stoneworkers has been torched.

Workmen reclaiming a derelict site on the former Eclipse Mill land, Eclipse Road, Feniscowles, had been staying overnight in a caravan.

But it was torched at 6.30pm on Thursday, with the heat damaging a Volkswagen Golf parked nearby.

Nobody was inside the caravan at the time. But it was left a burnt-out shell.

Fire investigators and police are treating the blaze as suspicious.

They received a number of calls from concerned residents who saw the smoke and flames.
