MOTORISTS in Hyndburn are being encouraged to celebrate World Car-Free Day by leaving their vehicles at home.
Local charity Prospects Foundation is backing the event, which aims to create an environment without motor vehicles.
Charity spokeswoman Donna Neely said: "The benefits of leaving the car at home and walking or cycling to work or school are endless.
"Just imagine a morning without the stress of traffic jams and chock-a-block car parks, arriving at work safe in the knowledge that you have given the children a healthy start to the day.
"You would also know that you have helped to cut down the level of pollution being released into the air you breathe."
The car-free day takes place on Friday, September 22.
