PLANS for a taxi booking office in Burnley are set to be approved, despite a petition signed by 44 residents against the plans.
Seven letters from residents living near the planned site, at Trafalgar Springs, in Lowerhouse Lane, have also been received by planners at Burnley Council. The application is to use the building as a taxi booking office for four private hire taxis.
Council planning officer Lesley Blakey said: “The firm currently operates from premises at 31 Pendle Street, Padiham, which is within a residential area. The booking office will not be open to the public and the taxis will be out on the road most of the time.”
A report from county council highways chiefs says: “Traffic generated by the proposed development is unlikely to be significant.”
The plans are recommended for approval by the development control committee, chaired by Coun Anne Kelly, on June 2.
