LOCALLY-MADE tasty treats will lure more tourists to East Lancashire's most popular attraction after a ruling banning the business from selling food was overturned.
Three specialist food shops are now to open at Oswaldtwistle Mills and bosses hope it will give visitors a flavour of Lancashire life.
The new units will include the Crumbly Cheese Deli, run by Steven and Charlotte Knowles, from Church.
Two experienced butchers will run Ye Olde Sausage Shop and Specialist Wines will concentrate on selling unusual tipples such as vegan and kosher brews.
Boyd Hargreaves, Oswaldtwistle Mills' retail director, said: "Local food products different to those in high streets and supermarkets are a big thing in the tourist industry."
A previous agreement between Hyndburn Council and Oswaldtwistle Mills prevented the business from selling food stuffs other than confectionery in the shops and meals in the cafe.
This was to avoid creating direct competition with nearby shops.
But council officials decided that it was unlikely that local shoppers would change allegiances as the units would not be selling everyday groceries.
As part of the new agreement, the shops must provide daily demonstrations and food tasting sessions.
